Benjamin's Growing - 6 months old!

Well, Benjamin got his first tooth, two weeks ago right around his 6 month birthday. He is working on the other one drooling on everything and putting everything in his mouth!
He has started solids and loves carrots, squash, green beans, cereal and avocado. He is not as crazy about sweet potatoes and bananas. I have been making my own baby food which has proven a fun adventure as I have had a lot of time around the house recovering. It is not as hard as I thought it would be and pretty fun! He is a great eater which makes it even more fun!

mmm, carrots!!
We are not sure why but he was not crazy about his high chair at first so we tried just sitting him in Bryce's lap then he did some crazy backwards moves on us. It did not stop him he kept eating upside down!!

Our first Baylor Game

We tailgated on Saturday for our first Baylor game this fall. We missed seeing the Austin Ericksons, but we still had a great time especially Bryce for he got to go to the GUT PACK SHAK!!! Something he has been dreaming about for months. Yum, Yum!!Thanks to Big Daddy we got to go the the game in style in his box. This really comes in handy when it is torrential raining outside!! Benjamin loved the game especially the band. We went to see them practice and when they stopped he cried! He loves his music.

After 3 hours of getting loved on by lots of family and friends and cheering on the Bears to a victory Benjamin was sacked out and we set up a "crib" of sorts made out of the couch and pillows so Benjamin could sleep, for it was way past his bedtime. He fought it so hard but finally gave in ...

My New Shoes

I forgot to include this on the last blog. Here are Benjamin's new shoes they are pretty cute. They are brown with blue cars on them!

My First Day of Mother's Day Out

This was a hard one for me- especially because since my surgery I have had limited time loving on my little Benjamin, but we were signed up and it ended up being good to have time to get some things done without Benjamin.

This is his classroom welcome sign at Northway Christian Church.

Here is his little classroom. It was a cold day for Dallas in September and Benjamin's newest trick is to want to march or try to walk while holding our hands, so he needed some new shoes for "school".

Here I am picking Benjamin up- he got a GOLD star and a sticker that said he did Fantastic and his mood was very happy on his parent form - yeah for Benjamin!

Cooking with Daddy

Cooking with Daddy

Benjamin and Bryce were so sweet and cooked homemade soup and spaghetti for our family last weekend. We have been blessed with so many meals, cards, help with Benjamin but those run out soon and Bryce wanted to be prepared for the Fall. Benjamin LOVED being a part of the action in the kitchen.
Here are all the yummy vegetables - Mommy's favorite!

My Chef of a Husband - thank you Bryce!!

Road Trip to Waco

My cousin Sarah Weatherly is pregnant and due in July we went to her baby shower in Waco and decided to make a weekend of it.  Bryce and I took Benjamin for his first Road Trip and he was amazing, he slept the entire trip.  The shower was so much fun we got to visit with Sarah and my Aunt Bonnie.  Benjamin loves his Mckay cousins!

Benjamin is now 2 months old

So I am way behind on blogging.  Benjamin is now 4 and 1/2 months old but I not blogged in two months, we have been having a busy summer. Here is a shot of his two month birthday and some pics of his little legs after his two month shots.  He is 10.5 lbs and 23 inches long.  He is in the 25% in weight and 55% in height.  We are loving parenthood and we are loving that he is now sleeping through the night from 8:30pm to 7:00am!  YIPPPEE!

OUCH!

Benjamin was a total trooper and he cried a little at the Doctor's office but he came home and he was great. He did not fuss at all until 8pm when he had a slight temperature and we had to give him a very tiny dose of Tylenol.

Giving up the Swaddle

I came in to the nursery this morning and this is how I found Benjamin...  needless to say we have given up the swaddle.  He is a wiggly worm and at 2 months here we have decided to graduate to the sleep sack instead or just long sleep pjs.

I found my fingers and I'm Smiling

Trying find the fingers....

Benjamin is now sucking his fingers and thumb depending on the day.  There is debate as to whether this is a good thing, but at 3:30am when he can put himself back to sleep I say it is a good thing!

Here Benjamin is smiling at my Catepillar that is propped up on the side of his crib ~ he absolutely loves that little stuffed animal!!

More gums...

I love this one it is one of my favorites because it really captures his precious, happy personality.  He truly is an easy baby and on Friday night he rolled over 3 times in a row.  He has not done it again, but we are going to record this as his first roll!  Also, he is smiling a lot more and cooing for the first time this week.  He loves his play gym and thanks to his grandmommy letting us know he was ready for it.  He hits the little toys, and loves the noises it makes!

Also, we had a fun visit from Benjamin's great aunt diane

A week full of fun for Benjamin

We have had a week full of fun.  Benjamin is growing so fast and we just measured him and he is 23 inches long and just over 10lbs.  Despite mommy still being sick Benjamin is doing just great and exploring new things.  He has found his hands and loves to suck them.

A cute outfit from Grammy!  Bright eyed Benjamin.

Benjamin's first experience in the Play Gym - he absolutely loved it!

All dressed up for work like Daddy!!

Not so Happy Easter

Well, we have had a rough couple of weeks, including a hematoma on my kidney, two  hospital stays and multiple cat scans.  As of Monday this week I was diagnosed with pleural effusion, which is fluid on the lungs.  I had a procedure yesterday to remove this fluid, but it was not totally successful.  They were only able to remove a third of the liquid, for there is over a liter of fluid on my lung!  It is amazing to see on the x-ray because it takes up over a third of my lung!

Anyway, I am in some relief from the procedure, but I am still in some pain with the fluid on my lungs.  Bryce has been an incredible husband for our Easter weekend was quite trying.  Bryce was on Daddy and Husband duty  full time taking care of me, who has been bedridden in pain for the past five days and taking the overnight duty with Benjamin.  He was such a trouper and so wonderful to serve and love us in such a wonderful way!

Benjamin, however is changing and growing and doing great!  He got dressed in his Easter outfit despite the fact that we did not leave the house. Daddy was very sweet to treat mommy and dress him up to take an Easter photo!

Here are some other pics of Benjamin hanging in his new favorite spot the SWING!!

Benjamin's first few weeks

We are loving being parents.  We had a detour of two trips to the Emergency Room.  I was diagnosed with a hematoma on my kidney.  It was very painful in fact more painful than my 22 hours of labor!!  So, needless to say it was kind of a traumatic first week of motherhood, because two days after bringing Benjamin home from the hospital I had to go to the emergency room.

We had to go to formula twice, but he has gotten back to breastfeeding just fine!  We are now one our own with no baby nurse.  Man, we were spoiled with awesome help for two weeks!

Daddy has been a very proactive Daddy because mommy had trouble soothing Benjamin, because she was still in pain from the c-section and the kidney pain.  Bryce has really stepped into fatherhood beautifully and he and Benjamin have really bonded.  One of Benjamin's favorite places to take a cat nap is on Daddy's chest.

We are getting used to operating on less sleep and I am finally realizing I have to sleep when he sleeps, so yesterday I finally just stayed in bed and napped when he did.  Today I feel much better and more rested.

Here are some pics of our first few weeks of life...

Our first Garden!

Well we are awaiting the arrival of our first child.  It is an exciting and scary experience all at the same time.  There is so much unknown.... how will labor go?  How will the baby be?  A good sleeper or a fussy baby?

We are thrilled and at this point I am two days past my due date, so we are really ready.
The nursery is done mostly and the house is incredibly clean, because I am out of things to do.  I have had flowers planted in front of the house and mopped my white kitchen floors.  Nesting is in full force, but no baby yet!  I have tried spicy foods and long walks, but the baby has a mind of his or her own.

We will keep you all posted.
